Abby Bay AHA#
Abby had been successfully shown in halter as a youngster. As a 4 year old, she was a John Lyons demonstration horse at the different demonstrations. She was worked by Chris Irwin at the Equine Affair in Columbus Ohio around 8 years ago. From there she was purchased from her home in Ohio by a gentleman in Indiana. After he tried (unsuccessfully) to pasture breed her, he traded her for five Walking horses. She ended up at a Walking Horse training barn where she was mistreated. At the time I was going to ride my Papaw's Big Lick mare and after riding I walked through the barn where the yearlings had a run in shelter. I walked into one of the grooms hitting this mare with the handle of a Pitch fork because she had reached through the fence to grab a bite of hay. Very soon after this, arrangements were made to purchase this mare. She was extremely head shy and will get very defensive if she feels threatened. The trainer at the barn told me that he ride her so that I could see her move. Needless to say, Abby got her revenge. The trainer mounted her with his walking horse spurs (these have a special curve so that they are in contact with the horse easier and have a more severe rowel) and after a couple laps around the track, he went to dismount and drug his spur accross her side and back. Abby went sideways and left the trainer sitting on the ground with his arm bleeding from the impact with the ground. I caught Abby and even though she had done this, I couldn't leave her at their mercy.
Abby is a granddaughter of Bey Shah and has the likes of Bask, Aladdin, and many others in her first five generations. She is also Sweepstakes nominated.
